About the Artist

Her move to Lakeport in 2011 marked Lorelyn's transition into full-time studio artist. It’s the culmination of more than 40 years of playing with clay as a hobby while working as a singer/voice teacher/ conductor/ homeschooling mom,
in Toronto and across the country.
in Toronto and across the country.

Lorelyn has taken many lessons
and courses with plenty of talented artist-teachers. She has shared space, borrowed space, traded space for singing lessons, and had her own small studio. Now for the first time she has room for a glaze lab, a second kiln, a slab roller … and for giving her artistic imagination free rein. If only there were more hours in the day …

Lorelyn sees her work in clay as
an extension of her singing self.
She believes that the human spirit
has a deep need to create with the
hands, to sing a song from the heart
and to move to the rhythm of a dance. For her, the making of everyday
objects with her hands provides
both song and rhythm.
She hopes that her pleasure in the making will be passed on to the user, and that each
piece in its turn, when it is used to nourish
with food or beauty or humour, will pay the
pleasure forward for years to come.
